Finished new piece for upcoming gallery show. Sharing because intersection of art and electronics rare here.

Concept: painted landscape on canvas with rivers traced in copper tape. Tape is functional circuit, powering small LEDs that mimic firefly behavior.

Tech bits:
  • ATtiny85 hidden behind canvas, soldered to copper tape edges
  • CR2032 coin cell for power, lasts ~3 weeks of intermittent activity
  • LEDs are 0603 SMD, very low profile, soldered directly to copper tape
  • Each LED has its own conductive tape "branch" off the river
Challenge: copper tape oxidizes over months. Coated with acrylic medium for protection.

Anyone else mixing visible-circuit aesthetics into finished pieces? Materials questions welcome.
