Switching from Arduino IDE to PlatformIO, worth the curve?

Thesis is dragging Arduino IDE to its limits. Library conflicts every other day, autocomplete sucks, dependency management feels like 2008.

Heard good things about PlatformIO. Real questions:

• Learning curve, gaano katagal bago productive?
• Does the same code run unchanged, or rewrites needed?
• Worth it for one-shot thesis projects, or only pays back on longer-term builds?

Anyone here switch midway through a project? Regret it?
