PlatformIO vs Arduino IDE for thesis, worth the curve?

C/C++ for embedded, Arduino sketches, library issues, compile errors.

Arduino IDE breaking on me again. Library version conflicts, autocomplete missing. Heard PlatformIO is the upgrade path.

Questions:
  • Learning curve, gaano katagal?
  • Same sketches run unchanged?
  • Worth for single-thesis project or only for long-term work?
Anyone moved mid-project? Regrets?
