Tired of stripped screw holes in printed enclosures. Switched to brass heat-set inserts. Game changer, pero technique matters.

What I learned:
  • Hole diameter: slightly smaller than insert OD (insert 4.6mm = hole 4.0mm)
  • Soldering iron at 200C, dedicated flat tip for inserts
  • Press slow, let plastic melt around, do not force
  • Keep insert perpendicular (crooked = strips or leans)
  • Push flush, then a hair below surface
PLA and PETG both take inserts fine. PLA needs lower temp (softer).

Cheap M3 inserts from Lazada (100pc ~PHP 250) work as well as branded.

Anyone using inserts? Tips for tiny M2 inserts (I keep melting past them)?
