Swollen battery in customer phone, how to explain risk?

When something just does not work. Debugging, multimeter readings, weird behavior.

See 1-2 swollen battery laptops/phones per week. Customer reaction: "tuloy lang gamit, dahan-dahan lang."

No. Swollen LiPo is failed thermal runaway waiting to happen. Bag near it, sleeping with phone charging, anything.

How I explain now:
  • Cells separated by punctured membrane, internal short progressing
  • Heat + charge cycle accelerates the failure
  • Worst case: gas vent ignites, fire, possible personal injury
  • "Pwede maglakad ka sa highway na bukod sa daanan ng truck. Hindi naman lagi tumatama yung truck pero..."
Replacement battery + labor: PHP 1500-3500. Hospital ER for burns: priceless. Sino dito naka-encounter ng actual battery fire? War story?
