Update on the radio mentioned in another thread. Got the ferrite antenna sourced (thanks sa community tip on Deeco Surplus, found one).

Other replacements needed:
  • All electrolytic caps (5 of them, all dried out)
  • Volume potentiometer (scratchy beyond recovery)
  • One output transistor (germanium 2SB54, found NOS on Lazada)
Worked on it Saturdays for two months. Sound is back, mas warm pa kaysa modern radios I have. Yung AM signal sa Manila very strong, nakakatanggap kahit indoor sa concrete wall.

Total cost: PHP 1800 in parts. Sentimental value: irreplaceable, dad's old radio.

Side question for the tube radio crowd: what's the right way to clean the tuning capacitor plates? Some dust accumulated over 60 years. Compressed air OK or risk damaging the vanes?
