Update on radio mentioned elsewhere. Found ferrite antenna at Deeco Surplus (community tip helped).

Other replacements:
  • All electrolytic caps (5, all dried out)
  • Volume pot (scratchy beyond fix)
  • One germanium output transistor (2SB54, NOS from Lazada)
Two months of Saturdays. Sound back, warmer than modern radios. Manila AM signal strong even indoor.

Total PHP 1800 parts. Sentimental value priceless, dad's old radio.

For tube radio crowd: right way to clean tuning capacitor plates? 60 yrs of dust. Compressed air safe or risk vane damage?
