My draft priorities:
- Auto-ranging (students confused by manual range selection)
- Continuity beep (most-used feature for debugging)
- Fused current input (students WILL short things)
- Diode test mode
- Decent probes (cheap ones have flaky tips)
Candidates: UNI-T UT33C, Aneng AN8008, generic DT830 (avoid, no fuse).
Teachers/parents: what did your students end up with that survived a school year? Fused input is my hard requirement, kids short the current mode constantly.
