Soldering for sculpture installations, neat or messy?

Artist here, electronics is half my medium now. Question for the soldering community.

For sculpture pieces where wiring is intentionally visible (not hidden inside enclosure), should joints look:
  • Neat, shiny, minimal flux residue — like factory PCB
  • Slightly messy, with visible flux halos — more 'crafty' aesthetic
  • Sculptural, intentional drips — almost like jewelry
Galleries respond differently to each. Curious what soldering pros think when they see 'craft soldering' on an art piece. Annoying? Beautiful? Don't care?

Also: lead vs lead-free for visible joints. Lead-free looks more matte/dull. Lead is shinier but environmental issues. Compromise?
