Soldering for sculpture installations, neat or messy?

Artist here, electronics is half my medium now. Question for the soldering community.
For sculpture pieces where wiring is intentionally visible (not hidden inside enclosure), should joints look:
Also: lead vs lead-free for visible joints. Lead-free looks more matte/dull. Lead is shinier but environmental issues. Compromise?

- Neat, shiny, minimal flux residue — like factory PCB
- Slightly messy, with visible flux halos — more 'crafty' aesthetic
- Sculptural, intentional drips — almost like jewelry
